Mini-tuin Vennestraat

Mini-tuin prototype

May 18, 2016 / 0 comments

May 16, 2016 / 0 comments

Charcoal

Font choice

May 10, 2016 / 0 comments

Inspirational: Public opinion

May 2, 2016 / 0 comments

Making Concrete Steps

May 1, 2016 / 0 comments

By making sketches earlier this week, we have managed to gain a lot of new input for the project. The sketches are a visual representation of all terms and concepts we link to Muna.Co. Together they formed a very broad overview of all possible roads we could take with the project. By discussing our sketches…

An infographic about work and Genk in general. But also my conclusions off the interviews, do you find in this infographic.

On this picture you can see how we made our public space. Hanging clothes on the washing lines and a table so that people could write their opinion.

We chose to make a video to document our invention. It was the best possibility to show how the moldboard started and evolved. It also shows all the people that passed and those who participated. video –> https://vimeo.com/128401344

BOOKLET We had plenty of answers to our question and wanted to document them not only in our video but also took photos of the participants and the doll which “wears” their answers. In this booklet we show the idea, the process and the collected answers. Also we draw some more results which shows the…

A really good example of combining sculpture, video and installation to represent a ore complex phenomenon, in this case the impact of climate change. The video  shows an example of how to effecrively use different media to represent different parameters of a certain issue.

When we came up with our new idea I immediately thought of graffiti. Most of the graffitis are illegal but have important messages. So I was thinking of giving people a chance to post their opinions and wishes on a legal graffiti.

Map it!

During the Map it session we developed a whole new concept which is very low key and has a great part of interaction in it. Also the map it session was a lot of fun and it reduced the ideas to the very necessary thoughts and materials we need. Additionally it revealed possible problems.

“Create participation of the public”: a key element in public design is the public itself. It’s important that we can persuade the unemployed people of Genk to participate at our project. We want to achieve this by ‘offering’ them something useful in terms of work. In return the only thing we expect is that they…

Manifest voor Winterslag

May 12, 2014 / 0 comments

http://www.niekkosten.be/manifest-voor-winterslag-cite   Identity is not an obvious aspect for the multicultural and relatively young community of Winterslag (Genk, BE). The allochtonous youth is confronted with problems in its search for identity. The bond that once existed between miners fades away over time. Therefore, the present project aims at visualising the complex and multilayered idea of…

Portraits of the Homeless

May 12, 2014 / 0 comments

In 2008, accountant and amateur photographer Lee Jeffries was in London to run a marathon. On the day before the race, Jeffries thought he would wander the city to take pictures. Near Leicester Square, he trained his 5D camera with a long, 70-200 lens on a young, homeless woman who was huddled in a sleeping…
