Location Aware Music

May 4, 2014 - Creative Communication / Reference Projects

Ryan Holladay explains how he uses geotagged sound, which can be heard only if the person is near the tagged place. This method is used not only to play music, but also to provide information about places. In more artistic ways it’s been used to connect certain places, with music, sounds or text, so it triggers certain emotions in the visitor. These sounds may be completely artificial, but it also can be used to connect the present moment and physical objects with sounds of the past, to reveal more complex stories about places.
